Entry Requirements:
- Current registration as a Medical or Dental Practitioner, Intern, Junior Intern,
Professional Nurse or Paramedic
- Valid Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers
Certificate or valid Paediatric Advanced Life Support Certificate.
- Successful
completion of the entry test
A comprehensive 315-page
ACLS® Provider Manual and 105-page Handbook of Emergency
Cardiovascular Care is supplied prior to
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Provider
Course participation.
The ACLS classes cover all scenarios related to cardiovascular emergencies, from
initial diagnosis, to treatment and monitoring.
ACLS® Course Outline:
The knowledge and skills obtained on the Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Provider Course includes:
Advanced Airway Management:
- Non-invasive airway techniques and devices
- Invasive airway techniques and devices
- Tracheal intubation and adjuncts
The Major ACLS Emergency Conditions:
- Respiratory arrest
- Ventricular fibrillation and ventricular
tachycardia
- Pulseless electrical activity and
asystole
- Bradycardias and tachycardias
- Acute myocardial infarction
Electrical Therapy:
- Defibrillation with automated and
manual defibrillators
- Synchronized cardioversion
- Transcutaneous pacing
Invasive Therapeutic and Monitoring Techniques:
- Peripheral IV access
- Pericardiocentesis
- Needle thoracostomy
- The use of emergency medications
Special Resuscitation Situations:
- Stroke
- Cardiac arrest associated with trauma
- Ethical aspects of advanced life
support
ACLS® training is thorough and provides participants with internationally recognized
skills and knowledge.
All successful delegates will be awarded certification from the American Heart Association.
